Big Accomplishment

On July 4th, I did something that I had never done before...Oh, I have participated in the PeachTree Road Race for 5 years, but I have never actually RAN. Yes I ran, not the whole way, mind you, but I was able to cut my time to the finish line to under two hours. 1:48:57 to be exact!! It felt great to finish without any pain or discomfort.
Now I am going to train to hopefully run/walk in a half marathon for my 50th birthday..yeah, I know, I have 2 and a half years to train, but I can do it. )

2 days til the Peachtree Road Race

This will be my 5th time walking in the race. Last year I was hurting so bad due to a degenerated disk, spondylosis of the L5 and plantar fasciitis. This year, I am able to trot a little and I think I'll be able to beat my last year's time :)
I have also been able to wear smaller clothes :) I have a closet full of cute clothes that I want to be able to wear in about a month when I go to New Orleans. I can't wait to go to NFA this year!!

About 2 months ago, I set out to finish what I had started. I wanted to get this weight off that I had gained back while I was in school. About 25 pounds. I found a great support group on FaceBook, well, they found me and invited me to join. I am glad I did. Yummy recipes and great support from friends all over the world. I have lost 16 pounds since the first of May :) I have changed the name of my blog from My Journey to Livin La Vida Low Carb because that is what I am doing now...Living the low carb life.

Back to Square One

I have had some setbacks with my weight loss and walking. As some of you know, I have a degenerative disk disease and it has hindered me. I have been in physical therapy for about 4 weeks now and it seems to help. This weekend and today, I walked a mile with no pain and I feel great. I have started back at the start block, moving my piece very slowly working my way back up and watching my carb and sugar intake. I have lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks and I hope to loose more.

My Journey: Reflections

My Journey: Reflections: WOW!! My first year back in school is coming to a close this week! As I look back, I wonder and pull out the "what ifs" and "why didn't I's"...

Reflections

WOW!! My first year back in school is coming to a close this week! As I look back, I wonder and pull out the "what ifs" and "why didn't I's". This year has been hard, there were times I didn't think I would make it, and times I just wanted to give up, but I persevered and now I am finishing up my junior year. I have met some amazing kids and the professors are just as amazing. Everyone very supportive! I couldn't have asked for a better school and better people to surround myself with. I give all thanks to God for them. I have learned that I can sing and act in front of people ON A STAGE! I have become a better flute player and I have learned how to play percussion. I have had to make a lot of sacrifices, but it will be worth it in the end. I am proud and blessed to be a part of Reinhardt FPAC family!

Shopping in my closet

Today I decided to try on some clothes in my closet that I haven't been able to get into. I have lost 17.5 pounds and I wondered if I could get into some jean shorts I bought a couple of years ago. To my surprise, I got in them and zipped them up and I could actually breathe. I tried on some other shorts and a skort. They fit.
The other day, I was asked what my secret was..there's no secret, just old fashioned walking and watching my portions and what I eat. It's as simple as that.
until next time...
